This course explores the business realities of startups and tactics startups use to survive and grow. The course begins by discussing the business realities of startups and the need to understand fundamentals and financial discipline, how to use customer engagement and data, and how to leverage scarce resources, from labor to infrastructure to customer engagement. The course then turns to growing into large enterprises and various models for scaling, including network effects, platform plays, asset light models, disruption, blitzscaling, subscription/SaaS models, and habit forming models. The course reviews building new markets and how to identify new trends others miss.
